The Sand City in Egypt's Hurghada continues, to this day, to take our breath away. From its historic beauty to its wonderland, the Sand City was created with a help of a number of artists from around the world, resulting in the project completion in just seven months.

The first open-air museum in Africa and the Middle East, the Sand City consists of 42 sand sculptures and 17 relics that are influenced by Egypt's history and major Hollywood Disney movies.

The historical art section, which consists of 22 sculptures and 6 relics, tells different and mesmerizing stories derived from sculptures of the famed Goddess Isis to Cleopatra and Julius Caeser, depicting their stories and their tragic ends.

The infamous Battle of Kadesh, which took place between the forces of the Egyptian Empire under Ramesses II and the Hittite Empire under Muwatalli II, is also featured.

Other notable historical characters featured include Napoleon, Alexander the Great, Nefertiti and Akhenaten as well as the Ottoman Empire, God Zeus, and Anubis and Horus.

Made out of  20 sculptures and 11 relics, the wonderland section is filled with animated characters from timeless Hollywood films and Disney cartoons. The ever-so-loveable Bugs Bunny greats domestic and foreign tourists with a warm smile.

Iron Man, Superman and Spiderman are casually relaxing on their sand-thrones while keeping a protecting eye of the city.

Meanwhile, Batman teases and confuses visitors with puns and jokes. The Smurfs, Shrek, Sponge Bob and King Kong, are also features in the Sand City.

Captain Jack Sparrow, the man that made pirates cool again, is featured sitting on a ship, gazing aimlessly at the endless ocean.

All in all, the Sand City has proven to be a magnificent place where art and memorable characters come together, allowing us to have an extraordinary experience that is both comical and cultural.
