The Rhodes Scholarship supports exceptional students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. Now, the scholarship is giving two students from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine the chance to excel in their studies at one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
There will be two Rhodes Scholarships given to students based on intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service. The scholarship grants students admission into Oxford beginning October 2017.
The scholarships are supported by the Saïd Foundation .
“Our aspiration is to identify and support innovative, energetic and ethical young leaders globally. The addition of these new Scholars from regions that have an important international role to play in the 21st century marks a substantial step in that direction," Charles Conn, warden of Rhodes House, said in a statement .
To be eligible [ PDF ] for the scholarship, students must be Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinian with at least 5 years of education in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza.
Applications will open July 1 and must be submitted before Sept. 30.
