Ramadan, the holy month that brings Muslim families together around the same dining table for iftar ... and around the TV set for all the dramas we're so used to in the Arab world.

Other than Netflix MENA announcing the introduction of four Ramadan series to its list of shows in the region (you can stream them while hiding in your room if you're avoiding the family), many other highly anticipated dramas and comedies are coming our way. 

If you're wondering what series to keep an eye on this holy month, take a look at the list below: 

1. Kalabsh 3

Kalabsh 3 (Cuffs 3) comes in its third season this year, with Salim El Ansary (main character) resigning from the Ministry of Interior to launch his own security firm. Little did he know his business partner will turn on him, leaving way to endless problems.

2. Haramlek

Haramlek takes place around the end of the Ottoman Empire, with a lot of drama, rumors, murders, and a throne to fight over. 

The show promises to be a huge hit, overshadowing Al Hayba and Bab Al Hara.

3. Weld el-Ghalaba

An action-packed show starring Ahmed El Sakka, Weld el-Ghalaba (Son of the Poor) revolves around a poor teacher who lives in Upper Egypt and struggles to make ends meet. 

He works as a teacher at a public school during the day and as a taxi driver during the night. When two jobs end up being not enough, he finds himself involved in the drug dealing business.

4. Athraa'

The Kuwaiti drama Athraa' (Virgin), played by Shejoun Al-Hajri, is highly anticipated during this holy month. 

Athraa' has been imprisoned based on being wrongfully accused of committing a murder. There, she meets women with different backgrounds and stories.

5. Bouqaat Daw 14

The satirical Syrian comedy Bouqaat Daw 14 (Spotlight 14) returns with new episodes revolving around what's happening in Syria and criticism targeting some of the world's governments' interests in the country.
