Residents of Dubai rejoice, as the daytime festival Piknic Electronik officially launched on 28 February, with three more action-packed days of fun ahead this spring . The event, which first began in Barcelona in 2012, has been well-received elsewhere in cities such as Montreal, Melbourne and Paris.
Typically a summer event, Piknic Electronik will instead make use of the few pleasant months Dubai sees before the heat really kicks off in May – because let’s face it, face-painting in 40 degree weather is no one’s idea of a good time.
This fun-filled family event featured international DJs in addition to local favorites playing electronic music from 1 p.m. till the end of the event at 10 p.m.
Piknic-goers can bounce to the music on bouncy castles, and if that doesn’t do the trick, try a yoga class or hula hooping instead.
While a number of similarly themed nightlife events and parties such as Electric Days found their way into the hearts of Dubai residents recently, this latest event is more kid-friendly, as all kids under 12 are allowed in for free.
Adam Fahim, co-founder of Piknic Electronik Dubai and founder of organizing agency XWave Media said in a statement to the press: “Piknic Electronik is a great place to meet up and enjoy beautiful weather and quality electronic music, all in a friendly and welcoming environment.”
If you missed out, don't worry, the next event will be on 28 March at Dubai Sports City, featuring artists from the United Kingdom and Spain as well as local favourites. There will also be events held on 18 April and 9 May.
