Dubai - and the UAE as a whole - is no stranger to raising the bar when it comes to innovationLast year, Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the city’s plans to become the global capital of the future.

"The future will not be as patient with us as the present. The future belongs to those who affect radical changes, not those who make minor, gradual improvements," Sheikh Mohammed said.

At the time, he called upon all Dubai government as well as private entities to embrace and adopt disruptive innovation as a fundamental mantra of their operations and to seek ways to incorporate its methodologies in all aspects of their work.

And Pepsi is doing exactly that. At STEP 2018, the company launched it's brand new "Pepsi Smart Cart", an autonomously driven smart retail cart that will be cruising around Dubai Internet City for the next two days of STEP Conference.

Let's take a look at the concept and what the prototype of Pepsi's Smart Cart can do:

1. Pepsi Smart Cart receives data from centralized intelligence centers

These magnificent Pepsi intelligence centers will analyze real-time data from STEP Conference in order to determine where the biggest crowds are. Subsequently, the cart will be sent to those locations to ensure everyone has a drink on-demand.

2. Smart Pepsi product inventory

The Pepsi Intelligence Center will automatically notify the cart when the inventory gets low. Therefore, the Smart Cart is guaranteed to be fully stocked at all times.

3. Order your drinks or snacks directly via the Facebook Messenger app:

The Smart Cart allows customers and STEP 2018 visitors to order Pepsi drinks and snacks directly through the Facebook Messenger app. All one has to do is to scan the code on the cart and choose from their available selection.
