Millions of expats from all over the world have made Dubai the multicultural melting pot it's become known for in the last decade. The emirate is now a place many choose to call home, and for good reason.
This week, Dubai ranked as the best city for expats to live and work in in the Arab world, a survey conducted by CEOWORLD Magazine revealed.
The emirate came in fifth globally, beating out international cities such as Sydney, Amsterdam, and Tokyo.
The survey - conducted by the magazine between October 2019 and January 2020 - is built on entries from 127,000 expats living in 186 cities all over the world. Those surveyed ranked their cities of residence based on "local friendliness, cost of living, quality of healthcare, safety, ability to raise a family, and career opportunities."
The UAE's capital Abu Dhabi came in at No. 13 on the list while Bahrain's Manama ranked at No. 23.
Cities in Qatar and Oman also made the cut, with the former's capital city Doha coming in at No. 29 and the latter's Muscat ranking at 32.
The list's top 10 at a glance
Dubai is the only Arab city to make it to the ranking's top 10. The list was headed by Singapore, followed by Taipei, Montreal, and Lisbon.
The emirate ranked fifth and was followed by Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City, Spain's Barcelona, Netherlands' Hague, Switzerland's Zug, and Germany's Aachen.
