Like much of the world, StepFeed spent a good portion of yesterday watching old "The Daily Show" clips as we worked to get over our shock that Jon Stewart was leaving the show .
To justify the time spent, we've put together our five favorite clips from the show, all dealing with the Middle East.
1. Middle East: a love story
Stewart has truly perfected breaking down international politics in a way anyone can understand - as shown in this clip where he plays the United States flirting with Iran while trying to keep its options open with Saudi Arabia.
2. Morsi “Viva Hate"
After well-known satirist Bassem Youssef, who has been called the “Jon Stewart of the Middle East,” was charged with insulting Islam and the Egyptian presidency in April 2013, Stewart took to the air in an 11 minute defense of the Egyptian comedian.
3. War of the poses
Israel, Lebanon and photobombing, with a bit of Donald Trump thrown in. It’s like the Miss Lebanon selfie scandal was made for a Stewart joke.
4. Automatics for the people
Last summer, Stewart took a look at the United States’ wish for peace in the Middle East, calling into question if the billions spent on sending weapons to the region is the best way to accomplish such a noble goal.
5. We need to talk about Israel
Stewart, who is Jewish himself, came under intense criticism for his coverage of last summer’s Israeli offensive on Gaza, with some critics calling him a "self-hating Jew."
