A new National Geographic Abu Dhabi documentary providing a "never-before-seen look" into the National Service of the United Arab Emirates aired its first installment Monday.

"We are excited to provide our viewers with a never-before-seen look into the UAE’s National Service and the transformations that recruits have to go through as they adjust to rigorous training routines," Sanjay Raina from National Geographic said, according to Al Bawaba .

The four-part series follows six young Emiratis as they complete their national service training to serve and protect their country. Featuring the young men's unique perspectives, the documentary showcases the mental and physical challenges of training.

National Geographic Abu Dhabi is part of Abu Dhabi Media. Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmoud, Abu Dhabi Media chairman and managing director, commented on the documentary's broadcast saying, "As a leading supporter of the nation’s initiatives, Abu Dhabi Media is committed to showcasing key aspects that relate to the Emirati community. This documentary gives an in-depth and unique look into the lives of recruits, particularly during their military service, highlighting all that the UAE’s national service encompasses," according to Al Bawaba.
