As Muslims throughout the Middle East readied themselves for Eid Al Fitr, the conclusion of the month-long Ramadan fast, the typically joyous celebrations were marred by multiple attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

On Monday, a series of bombs struck several sites throughout Saudi Arabia, including just outside the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, one of the two holiest sites in Islam. Four deaths were reported in the Medina attack while only the bomber was reported dead in an earlier attack in Qatif. Additionally, two security officers were injured when an attacker blew himself up outside of the United States consulate in Jeddah.

Just the day before, an attack on a popular commercial district of Baghdad killed at least 215 people, in what is being called the worst attack on Iraq's capital in years. The attacks in Iraq and Saudi Arabia follow similar deadly attacks in Turkey and Bangladesh, all carried out during the last days of Ramadan fasting.

While ISIS has not claimed responsibility for all the bombings, leaders of the terrorist organization have previously called on their supporters to carry out attacks during the holy month.

Although Eid Al Fitr should be a time of joy, normally spent with family and friends, the numerous attacks cast a shadow over the typically festive mood. People throughout the Middle East and the world have taken to social media to voice their somber sentiments.

Some pointed out that the terrorists clearly don't respect the religion they claim to serve

Others highlighted how frustrating it is to be painted as the culprits while actually being the biggest victims

Of course, a lot of people expressed their anger

People quickly pointed out that the terrorists cannot rightly call themselves Muslims

Because it just doesn't make any sense and this should never happen

And of course, people remembered the victims, who died so senselessly
