Zakia Belkhiri was just happily attending a Muslim Expo in Belgium when she noticed a group of 40 far-right anti-Islam protestors outside.

So, she did what any proud hijab wearing young Muslim woman would do... she took a selfie !

Happily standing with the protestors behind her, Belkhiri didn't imagine that her simple act would get so much attention.

She even told BBC Trending that she "didn't want to look like a girl who seeks attention," and that she had initially shied away from the media attention she began receiving.

However, the selfies and images of her with the protestors have since gone viral, even spawning memes praising her action.

However, Belkhiri maintains that she wasn't intending to protest the protestors, she simply wanted to convey a different message. "This wasn't a protest at all, this was just to share joy and peace," she told BBC Trending.

And her final thoughts on the matter? Well, she just wants everyone to respect everyone.
