Ottawa-based Muslim hip-hop duo "Deen Squad" is all about halal remixes, and to their audience's surprise, they recently added a Muslim twist to the hit song "Havana."

Lebanese-Canadian Karter Zaher and Ghanian-Canadian Jae Deen shot to social media fame a couple years ago ... and it seems as though their latest remix has taken the internet by storm.

The duo created a music video along with a remix to the song, substituting the Cuban city of Havana with Saudi Arabia's holy city of Madina.

Since it was first shared on Facebook on Sunday, the video has amassed over 2 million views at the time of writing.

"Madina ... oh na na ... I pray you take me to Madina oh Allah"

The song lyrics are dedicated to Madina, the second holiest city in Islam.

"I pray you take me to Madina ... my heart is in Madina. My only role model is the Prophet, better recognize his name is Muhammad. I would be lost if I didn't find him ... I would be lost and so misguided," the lyrics to the song reads.

People on social media absolutely loved it!

"You guys are good"

"Mashallah my heart is in Madina"

A few also criticized the duo for "rapping" in the name of Islam

But, the criticism was shut down by many others

"So much respect for you guys"

"I want my lyrics to help people take initiative"

"I want my music to inspire people, to allow them to think in a profound way. I want my lyrics to help people take initiative to get up and follow their dreams while staying true to their origins," Zaher once told StepFeed in an interview.

This wouldn't be the first time the Muslim rap duo release a halal remix to a hit song.

In 2015, the duo released "Muslim Queen," adding a halal twist to Fetty Wap's song "Trap Queen," garnering nearly 3 million views on YouTube.
