The famous El Koutoubia mosque in Marrakech was the scene of rather unusual incident Friday, when a young man took the minbar.
Standing at the front of the mosque, which is the largest in Marrakech, the young man began playing the guitar, singing loudly in front of worshippers and making obscene gestures toward the imam, who remained too shocked for words throughout the incident. According to Le 360, it seems the intent of the 20-year-old was to distract.
After the brief show, the young man was stopped by worshippers, who immediately alerted police. The bizarre protest is now being investigated by police, who have opened a criminal investigation.
Although criminal charges might be a bit extreme for a youthful prank, as disrespectful as it might be, this kid should learn some manners.
