A 3D replica of Dubai, considered to be the largest of its kind, debuted last week at the CityScape exhibition.
Commissioned by Ejadah Asset Management to showcase the group's assets, the 3-by-2-meter map features famous landmarks such as Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab and was created by Generation 3D, a Dubai-based 3D printing consultancy.
“We worked with our client for a month, working on concepts of how a model can best represent their assets throughout Dubai while remaining aesthetically pleasing," Generation 3D co-founder Dominic Wright told The National .

The replica, which currently sits at Ejadah's Knowledge Village office, will also serve as a decisionmaking tool for the company's future projects.
According to co-founder and technical director Max Reynard, Generation 3D used Google Maps to create "a computer-aided design model of Dubai," which took three weeks, before going to printing for "over seven days."
The attractiveness of the 3D printing option is explained by the rapidity of the execution and the ability to use all sorts of material for the final product.
“Typically, a client would want a model done in six to 12 months to prepare for events or projects. With 3-D printing we can do it in a month and it is much easier for us to incorporate any last-minute changes that are required," Reynard said.
The company has already started working on a master plan for Abu Dhabi for Ejadah, and apply the techniques developed from the Dubai project. It is expected to go on to show in the capital at CityScape next year.
