The mayor of Laglio has issued a new regulation fining anyone who sets foot within 100 meters of Hollywood actor George Clooney’s home a hefty 600 euros – in a bid to protect the privacy of the star and his Lebanese-British wife, Amal Alamuddin, as they settle into their two villas in the Lake Como area.

The new rules were issued ahead of Clooney’s birthday next month, when he is expected to host a big party in the town.

Similar rules were instituted before the couple’s wedding last September – leading many to speculate that the nuptials would take place in the town, though the power couple ended up tying the knot in a star-studded event in Venice.

The couple have been media darlings since Amal – a top London barrister who has worked as an adviser on Syria for former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and advised Greece in its attempt to force the return of the Eglin marbles from the United Kingdom – got engaged to Clooney - a Kentucky native who has had a few successful films.

Shortly before their wedding, Clooney lashed out at the Daily Mail over a report it published that Amal’s mother had rejected their marriage due to the fact that Clooney was not Druze. Baria Alamuddin – a Lebanese journalist – is herself Sunni, though Amal’s father is Druze.
