Following in the footsteps of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid will donate 1 million euros in aid to refugees fleeing war-torn Syria, according to Goal.com .
In a statement published on its official website, the club reiterated "its commitment to charity" and pledged to help Syrian refugees arriving in Spain. While it isn't clear what kind of initiatives the club has in plan, it hinted that it was working on a series of measures "with a special focus placed on the youngest refugees."
The club's president Florentino Pérez was in talks with the Spanish president Mariano Rajoy to make some of Real Madrid's "infrastructure and sports goods" available to incoming refugees through the government's executive interministerial commission, which handles the influx of refugees into the country.
