Three Al Jazeera journalists landed in hot water in Paris yesterday after they reportedly sent a drone above in the city to cover the mystery drone flights that have put authorities on edge this week. Inception.
The journalists, whose nationalities and names were not released, were arrested in Paris’ Bois de Boulogne .
"The first was piloting the drone, the second was filming and the third was watching," a judicial source told AFP.
According to the BBC, flying a drone over Paris is illegal and carries a maximum one year prison sentence and an $85,000 fine, a fact that has been much publicized this week as Paris authorities search for the operators of the mystery drone flights.
Al Jazeera acknowledged the arrests, but did not offer any explanation.
However, another Al Jazeera journalist, Jacky Rowland, said that her three detained were definitely not behind the mystery drones from the previous nights.
Rowland also reported Thursday that two of the three detained journalists had been released.
