Massive fire engulfs Deira Creek dhows in Dubai

At least three dhows have been reported to have caught fire in the blaze.

A massive fire broke out in Dubai Monday afternoon as several dhows in Deira Creak caught fire.

According to Emirates 24l7, eyewitnesses said that the fire erupted around 3 p.m. and some three or four boats were on fire.

The smoke from the fire could be seen from as far as Sheikh Zayed Road while residents said ashes from the blaze reached balconies in Oud Metha.

Some 10 civil defense and four rescue vehicles were reported to be on the scene as firefighters struggled to subdue the flames. Cargo, mainly food items, reportedly could be seen floating in the sea.

Motorists have also been advised to avoid Al Maktoum Bridge.
