On Thursday, a video of renowned Lebanese journalist Marcel Ghanem flipping the finger began making the rounds online ... ultimately giving the internet its newest meme.

Ghanem appeared on the morning talk show "Ya Rima" on Sawt El Ghad radio station to discuss the political situation after PM Saad Hariri's shock Nov. 4 resignation from Riyadh, his return to Lebanon this week and the consequent suspension of said resignation.

In the radio interview, the Kalam En Nas host said that out of respect for Hariri, he will "accept all that he said without question," before going on to flip a finger, unaware that he was being filmed.

Ghanem soon issued a statement explaining that "the gesture was aimed at those threatening and disrespecting me, as well as those who have attacked my character."

But, the internet just couldn't resist.

Honestly, Ghanem was really just trying to respond to popular demand ...

But ... ended in him going "from public figure to public finger"

And then, a new meme was born!

"When you copy off your friend during an exam ... and score higher than them in the midterm"

"Lama emak to2af ma3ak dod ekhtak"

"When I open my wallet"

"When you tell your mom: ma fe akel bhal beit"

"When it’s the last week of school and the teacher gives you homework"

"When someone tells you '3a2belik' every time they see you"

"When you see your best friend on campus"

"When the manager gives more work to another coworker"

"When you find a parking spot before the valet sees you"

"Black Friday" be like

Others began drawing parallels...

Basically: the week's events in a meme
