In a case that shocked people in Kuwait, authorities in the country arrested a husband who "sold" his wife to a friend, Sayidaty Magazine reported earlier last week.
The arrest came after the man's wife reported her husband to police, explaining that his friend paid him 200 KD (650 USD) in exchange for an illicit sexual relationship with her.
"After I left home due to marital problems, I got a call from my husband asking me to come back to discuss things," the wife said.
"I thought that he had maybe thought things through and wanted to work on our marriage. However, when I got home, I was shocked to find my husband's friend waiting there for me. He wanted to have sex in exchange for a sum of money he had paid my husband," she added.
Soon after the wife's report, authorities arrested and investigated both the husband and his friend. They have now been referred to prosecution.

In recent years several similar cases of horrific abuse against women were reported across the Arab world.
In 2013, a Dubai-based man was sentenced to 10 years in jail for forcing his wife into prostitution.
This came after he confessed to threatening to murder her if she refused to have illicit sexual relationships with men.
