A degree in Integrated Marketing Communications with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Art from the American University in Cairo was just another feather in her cap for 23-year-old Farah El Ashiry; the 23-year-old designer of Fufa fashion already has 14 years of experience under her belt.

When she was only 10, she started doodling clothes and dresses, and her curiosity soon led her to experiment with fabrics and sewing. From visiting her family's regular tailor to learn the basics of the craft, she moved on to studying Fashion Design and Pattern making at the Italian Fashion Academy for three years.

Yet the point where the 14-year-long endeavors came together to bring her clothing line Fufa to life was when El Ashiry’s grandmother revealed to her three large cupboards stacked with fabrics from her travels through Asia and Europe over the years.

“Every fabric piece had a vibrant and eccentric printed detail. I could not resist the colorful patterns and the temptation to create a playful ready-to-wear beach wear collection,” El Ashiry recalls. “I always wanted to have my own clothing line, but I never imagined it happening so soon and in that style.”

El Ashiry describes her designs as “rather bohemian with a touch of grandma-cool vintage vibes, reinterpreted with a distinctly modern, trendy feel. The pieces resonate with current fashion trends, while also grabbing some inspiration from the past in terms of the classy colored prints.”

Fufa's summer and winter collections consisted of basic clothing pieces: shorts, tops, kimonos, rompers, sweaters, ponchos, jackets, cardigans and scarves. To check out how Fufa brings all those influences together in her garments, check her Facebook page .
