Lebanon's parliamentary elections may be postponed for the third time since 2013.
It could be months, or even a whole year, before elections will be held as MPs failed to agree on a new electoral law.
A session will be held Thursday to discuss plans to extend Parliament's term for one more year, as announced by House Speaker Nabih Berri, following two extensions in 2013 and then again in 2014.
However, this ultimately led to further disputes as three parties, the Free Patriotic Movement, the Kataeb and the Lebanese Forces, announced their plans to boycott Thursday's Parliament session.
"Why can we vote on an extension, which is against the law, but we can't vote on an electoral law?" said Ibrahim Kanaan, Change and Reform MP, according to The Daily Star.
"They told us that they would go on with the extension vote without us. Is this how we build a state?" he added.
The elections, which last took place in 2009, were set to happen between May 20 and June 21.
Since the announcement, Lebanese have taken to social media to express their thoughts.
Some people have lost all hope, but others are facing the news with sarcasm.
Soon after, the hashtag, 'the last time the elections happened (اخر_مره_صارت_الانتخابات)' began trending.
