Lebanese singers are not foreigners to the world of dispute. Sometimes it's for racist decisions, other times it's really just a matter of luck (or lack thereof).
Carole Samaha is a member of the latter batch. Her luck wasn't on her side during the production of her upcoming music video for the song "Mish Ha'eish" (I Won't Live). During the video shoot in Paris, the Lebanese singer was mistakenly assumed to be committing suicide.
In the middle of her shoot, local authorities temporarily put a stop to her video shoot after people spotted the Lebanese singer leaning on a balcony backwards with her head dangling freely over the edge ... and called the police almost immediately.
From afar, people thought it was a suicide attempt. The fact that locals called the police is actually a good thing because had someone actually been jumping off the balcony, they would have needed immediate help.
Police rushed to the scene moments after and shut down the production as they investigated and interrogated the singer.
Samaha recounted the experience on social media, saying it was one big misunderstanding.
"From France, shooting a dramatic scene for my new song Mish Ha'eish, which caused a big misunderstanding in the streets of Paris where people thought I was trying to commit suicide," she wrote in an Instagram caption.
"The French police entered the apartment to investigate. We assured them that the issue is nothing but a scene for a new music clip."
Her latest single will roll out exclusively on Anghami on March 4 despite the controversy it caused.
"Excited about this song produced by Anghami that I've chosen and directed for the unpredictable talented star," wrote Lebanese producer Jad Choueiri in a tweet recently.
Fortunately enough, Samaha was able to go on with the shoot but has not yet shared the final version. People are definitely counting down the hours, though.
