Color runs are trendy all over the world, taking place every where from Dubai to New York City, but a new one launched in Lebanon aims a bit higher than just fitness.

Offre Joie, a local NGO, organized a 5K color run to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the beginning of the country's civil war, which took place from 1975-1990. The run, held on April 13, aimed to bring the color back to Lebanon, with participants coloring each other with dry paint while running in one direction, showcasing unity and harmony.

Using social media and photography, Offre Joie hopes to portray, "the real image of Lebanon, a united country, which like a Phoenix was able to be reborn from its ashes, enriched with all its diversity and multitude of colours."

Using the #OJApril13, users shared their pictures of the event. Check out the results below.

Prior to the run, Offre Joie invited Lebanese to take black and white pictures and hashtag them with ‪#‎ OJApril13‬ .

They all say: "Raji3 Alwan Libnan" which translates to "bringing back the colors of Lebanon".

The group also collaborated with other commemoration events in Beirut, including a wall that invited the public to finish the sentence, "Before I die, I want Lebanon to..."
