You would think that a couple posting an ultrasound of their soon-to-be-born child on social media wouldn't be such a big deal, but that doesn't seem to be the case in the Arab world.

Earlier this week, Kuwaiti TV presenter Asrar Al Saeed learned that the hard way after posting a photo of her and her husband holding an ultrasound picture of their baby.

Just hours after the image was uploaded to Instagram, it sparked a heated debate among users.

What did the debate center around you might ask? Well, whether the photo was appropriate or not...

Here's how the entire controversy played out online:

It all started when Al Saeed posted this image on her Instagram

Sparking intense backlash on social media

"This photo would've been beautiful if they'd put it in their private photo album. But to post in public, that's just inappropriate. Even if they're TV presenters or public figures, they must keep some things private. What they did is unacceptable and shameful."

Some felt the image was inappropriate

"Private matters should not be made public."

Others attacked the couple for posting it...

"The man and woman of a house must keep the secrets of their home private. This show and fuss are uncalled for."

A few chimed in with things like this...

"Where's his jealousy over his wife? She's so beautiful."

But many just didn't get what the criticism was all about

"Where's the problem in this?"

"I am honestly so confused over all this backlash, what's so wrong with this photo?"

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it...

"On the contrary, this photo is beautiful, a husband and wife excited to welcome their soon-to-be-born child. I advise them to ignore all the regressed people attacking them and just look forward. People who can't do something because they're scared of society and traditions criticize it."

"You're a beautiful family in an ugly society"

"A man and woman posed with an ultrasound image of their soon-to-be-born child and were attacked by a bunch of regressed people."

"Societies that kill all that's beautiful in the name of modesty and religion"

"This is the most powerful image ever"
