The richest independent businessman in Kuwait, Jassem al-Kharafi, died this morning after suffering a heart attack aboard a private plane while he was returning from Turkey.
Worth $ 1.14 billion, the former Kuwait National Assembly speaker served in parliament from 1999 to 2011. He was also the finance minister from 1985 to 1986.
Dying at the age of 75, he leaves behind six sons and daughters.
