Over the weekend, Saudis were at a loss for words after footage of kids running atop tents inside Mecca's Holy Mosque circulated online.

In the short clip, the children can be seen crisscrossing the rooftops and playing in the area. Though the exact filming date remains unconfirmed, the video sparked quite the controversy after it made the rounds on Twitter.

A heated debate ensued on Saudi Twitter soon after the video was shared.

Some blamed the kids' parents for letting their children roam around unsupervised. Others thought stricter security measures must be implemented to ensure safety.

Here's a little of what people had to say on the matter:

Many had questions

"Oh my... how did they get there?"

Some blamed the Holy Mosque's security team

"Where's the security and those responsible for the site?"

Others blamed the kids' parents

"It's the parents' responsibility to supervise and take care of their children. Why doesn't every guardian take it upon themselves to teach their kids about the holiness of this site and to make sure they understand it? This is a place of worship not a space for people to spend their weekends."

While some had logical explanations

"From the hotel's window or the maintenance ladder."

A few reacted to the incident with a dose of humor

"I need their fitness to clean and do my laundry."

"These are monkeys, not humans"

"The devil's spawns"
