Rumors stating that Kadim Al Sahir's concerts in Saudi Arabia were canceled have turned out to be true.
The speculations began circulating on social media earlier this week after the country's Entertainment Authority removed promotions for Al Sahir's concerts from their websites and social media pages.
On Monday, a source confirmed the news to Al Arabiya, stating that the singer's planned concerts in Jeddah (28 December) and Riyadh (29 December) have been canceled.
"The source did not reveal the reasons behind the cancellation, however they confirmed that both concerts will not be held on the dates announced," Al Arabiya wrote.
The kingdom's Entertainment Authority has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
People react on social media
The news sparked a debate on Twitter soon after it started to make the rounds online.
Some were relieved by it and said the performances were probably stopped due to the fact that many protested against them.
Others thought Al Sahir was banned from singing in the kingdom because he had performed at a wedding in Qatar earlier last week.
As people continued to speculate the reasons behind the cancellation, Al Sahir's fans expressed anger over the decision.
Some people were quite happy with the news
"This is the best news ever."
"Thank God and let's hope they cancel that Lebanese singer's concert too"
However, many were having none of it...
"I am so sad, we were so excited to see him perform soon."
Fans were left heartbroken
"It's OK, the fact that he was really coming hadn't sunk in yet."
"If this is because he sang in Qatar, that's just embarrassing"
"A shameful decision"
"This is a shameful decision, the person who made it is just so narrow-minded."
