Snow has fallen in Ras Al Khaimah. A desert is turning into quite the winter wonderland.

This is not the first time it has snowed in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah, but the new record for lowest temperature in the UAE has been set, at -2.2 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS).

While the rest of the UAE is experiencing sandstorms and gusts of wind at a speed of 75 to 85 km/hr, Jais Mountains, or Jabal Jais, is starting to look like a snowcapped mountain.

The lowest temperature in the UAE was -1 degrees Celsius, and that record was taken in January 2008.

January is typically the coldest month in the UAE, and temperatures are expected to dip further as the UAE approaches a "wet weekend."
