“Dirty Bertie” is a little boy with extreme behaviors such as eating sweets off the floor or licking the dog’s face, Yuk!

Children laugh out loud at Dirty Bertie and his horrible dirty habits and children love repeating the book chorus  “No, Bertie! That’s Dirty, Birtie!”

Here are some quick tips for good child hygiene and health.

Remind children to wash their hands.

This should be done after using the toilet, before eating, playing outside, and if their hands look dirty.

Teach children to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue.

They should do this when coughing or sneezing, and to throw it in a bin after use, before washing their hands.

Ensure your child has a varied and balanced diet.

Whether this is in a packed lunch or school dinners, healthy food is important.

Encourage your child to drink plenty of clean, safe water throughout the day.

Ensure that school has all the information they require if your child has an ongoing medical condition.

If your child is acutely unwell, keep them away from school until they are well enough to return.
