Jordan's royal family members are known for their hands-on approach to ruling the Hashemite kingdom. This is especially true when it comes to launching and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.
In a video shared by Jordanian media outlets this week, the country's ruler King Abdullah II and his son Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah were filmed doing just that. In it, the royal duo can be seen joining divers as they cleaned the Aqaba seabed. Both men untangled plastic wires and collected aluminum cans, bottles, and bags that were stuck to sea shrubs.
King Abdullah II was also seen saving a sea creature that got tangled in a mess of wires. The clip capturing the epic dive comes as Jordan's monarch continues a tour of the country's southern region which was launched three weeks ago.
Queen Rania shared the footage capturing the dive in Aqaba on Instagram.
Captioning her post, the royal wrote: "Jordan's Hidden Treasure. His Majesty and Crown Prince Al Hussein in the beautiful waters of Aqaba."
The queen wasn't the only one excited over the footage. Thousands lauded the king and his son for taking part in an initiative aimed at preserving the kingdom's marine ecosystem.
