Nike Air Max 97 is celebrating its 20th anniversary with six bold influencers taking part in the occassion, including a hijabi.
Somali-American Halima Aden took part in the campaign titled 'Movement 97,' which sees each person represent a different mode of expression.
"There’s always room for improvement. My life philosophy is: If I did well yesterday, I could do better today. Even with these shoes, Nike is not thinking for the customers today, they’re keeping in mind the customers 10 years from now, 20 years from now, 60 years from now. What is that brand going to be remembered for?" Aden says in the campaign.
All those who took part were born in 1997 including Faye Webster, Bryant Lui, Anajah Hamilton, Lucia Santina Ribisi and Lauren Tepfer.
The campaign revolves around three central themes:
'What you see is what you reinvent, when iconic design inspires infinite evolution and the revolution meets the road in the fastest fashion.'
The 19-year-old Somali-American model embraces those three themes in her everyday life.
Who's Halima Aden?
Earlier this year, Aden made international headlines after walking the New York Fashion week runway, showcasing Kanye West's Yeezy collection ... all while wearing the hijab.
Aden competed at the Miss USA beauty pageant, and also became IMG Models, the world's top modeling agency's, first hijab-wearing model.
In June, the 19-year-old model became the first hijabi to ever appear on the cover of Vogue Arabia, which was released during Ramadan.
"That surreal & dreamlike feeling the moment you see yourself on the cover of Vogue Arabia cannot be explained!" the Somali-American model tweeted at the time.
In July, Aden was featured in American Eagle's summer campaign, which was being promoted under the slogan #ICAN. It focused solely on positivity and self-love, a theme the retailer has been championing for years.
