Image Nation Abu Dhabi, the company making waves for its Hollywood-calibre productions, will be producing a new Arabic-language television legal drama series, which will begin filming in the UAE later this year.
Audiences will watch a passionate young Emirati lawyer and her father, one of the region’s top attorneys, work on cases together while having to deal with personal drama of their own.
“The series is best described as L.A. Law meets Dallas in Abu Dhabi, which captures both the scale and calibre we are aiming for in this series,” Michael Garin, CEO of Image Nation, told The National .
Award-winning American screenwriter Billy Finkelstein, who is best known for his work in NYPD Blue and LA Law, developed and wrote the series.
Speaking to Broadcast Pro, Mohammed Al Mubarak, Chairman of Image Nation, praised the program, which he called “a landmark […] for Image Nation and the region.”
“In producing this high-calibre series we are doing what Abu Dhabi does best – combining the best of international expertise and local talent to reach new heights. We are creating compelling entertainment at a Hollywood standard, while reflecting the experiences and locations of the Middle East,” he added.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department is also co-producing the television series, having collaborated with Image Nation to “give the series a remarkable edge” by ensuring that storylines are as authentic as possible.
Mubarak said that some of the cases to be dealt with in the legal drama were inspired by real-life situations the Judicial Department had pursued, promising that it “will surprise and delight audiences in the same gripping way the most successful international series do.”
Beeline Productions, which produced a number of programs featured on over 30 Arabic channels, is the series’ UAE production partner.
Egyptian filmmaker Ahmed Khaled Moussa, whose portfolio includes "Man Al Jani" (Who’s the Murderer) and "Ba’ad El Bidaya" (After the Beginning), will be directing the series.
