There's no going wrong when it comes to halloumi cheese. It's exquisite, and we have a hard time imagining how so many cultures in the world do without it. Although most of us don't realize this, it's as versatile as it is delicious. Get creative with your halloumi cheese, and it will change the way you cook for a long time to come.
Here are 5 recipes you need to try:
1. Halloumi fries
Cut the halloumi cheese into equally sized pieces. Heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the halloumi sticks. Cook for about 1.5 minutes until the cheese turns golden-brown.
You could sprinkle with lemon juice, oregano and pepper and you can always go a little crazy with your dips. Maybe try some hot sauce, chili sauce or maybe even ketchup-mayo dip!
2. Grilled halloumi salad
Place your halloumi pieces in a skillet over medium-low heat. Grill one side until it turns golden-brown. Flip them over. Use the same skillet to roast some pine nuts. Add the pieces to a rocca/spinach salad with sun-dried tomatoes and roasted pine nuts. You could even add some sliced black olives. YUM.
You could use a basic lemon,salt and olive oil dressing...but you could also consider adding a bit of balsamic vinegar. It blends well with halloumi.
3. Halloumi burger with eggplants (no bun)

This delicious veggie packed burger is sure to be a favorite of yours. Grill all your favorite vegetables (eggplants, tomatoes and red pepper are my favorite)...and pile them up without the bread, to make a delicious guilt-free burger. You could also add some hummus to the mix in between the layers.
If you prefer eating your burgers with a bun (like normal people), you could just add the buns. If you can't do without the meat, consider the next item on the list.
4. Beef burger with grilled halloumi on top
Grill your hamburger just like you normally would. And grill your halloumi cheese on the side in a pan. Add your halloumi cheese on top of the burger, just as you would add mozerella or cheddar cheese. It won't melt, but your taste buds may.
5. Halloumi skewers
Get your wooden skewers, cause there's nothing boring about a vegetarian barbecue when halloumi's involved. Instead of grilling your meat (or alongside your meat), consider putting together this skewers of halloumi diced pieces, red pepper, tomatoes, koussa and red onions for a perfect addition to your traditional BBQ.
You can also make a few dips on the side including hummus, baba ghanoush and maybe even some chili sauce.
