The full-length trailer of the seventh installment in the classically popular Star Wars franchise dropped early this morning on the Internet, and the world is going crazy (we're going crazy too).
The trailer finally answers many of the questions previous short trailers couldn't answer as we finally get a sense of who the three main characters of this trilogy – Finn, Poe, and Rey – and we also hear Kylo Ren speak for the first time, promising to fulfill Darth Vader's mission.
More than that, the trailer showed us the wide desert landscapes of the planet of Jakku where Finn supposedly crash-lands and Rey lives, scenes that were filmed in Abu Dhabi.
The trailer opens with Rey in scavenger gear going through scrap before cutting to a long-shot of her walking in the desert with the newest droid, BB-8
"Who are you?" a voice asks. "No one," Rey replies.
Something catches Rey's eye on the Abu Dhabi Jakku horizon.
Cut to Finn's storyline, and we learn that Finn, a stormtrooper, deserts (see what we did there?) the new Empire, and crash-lands in a desert planet
"I was raised to do one thing," he says, but something happens that drives him to leave the Empire. "But I've got nothing to fight for."
Is that the Millennium Falcon doing what it does best - dodge TIE fighters - with the Abu Dhabi desert in the background?
Chewey and Han are always up to no good.
Directed by JJ Abrams, "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" stars Harrison Ford, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac, and opens in the UAE on Dec. 17, a day before the U.S. release date .
