Dubai-based budget carrier flydubai announced Tuesday that it would add flights from the emirate's Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central in addition to its existing service from Dubai International airport.

Starting on Oct. 25, passengers will be able to select flights from Al Maktoum to fly to Amman, Beirut, Chittagong, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuwait and Muscat while flights will also continue to these locations from Dubai International.

"DWC is the new frontier of aviation in the UAE. There are very few international cities that do not have more than one airport and Dubai is planning to build the world’s largest airport," CEO of flydubai Ghaith Al Ghaith said, according to a press release.

"The start of our new operations at DWC provides further opportunities for growth for flydubai as we take delivery of more than 100 new Boeing aircraft by 2023."

Officials at Al Maktoum recently announced that they planned to increase capacity to 26 million by 2018 paving the way for flydubai's expansion. As communities continue to develop in the south of Dubai, the expansion to the new airport is aimed at increased convenience and access to flights.

"This is great news for travelers to and from Dubai and a strong endorsement of the growth strategy planned for our two-airport city, as customers will now have the choice of a fast growing range of services at two world class airports," CEO of Dubai Airports Paul Griffiths said.
