After attacking Malaysian Airlines' website yesterday (which seems like a low blow, as Malaysian Airlines had a rough 2014 ), hacker group Lizard Squad is at it again. This time with a much bigger mark ...Facebook and Instagram, as the group claimed to take the social media superstars offline for an hour this morning.

Sites that used Facebook as a log in, like Tinder, were also down. That's a left swipe for Lizard Squad.

However, Whatsapp, the messaging service that was bought by Facebook, was not affected by the hacks, which some say means that the lack of service could not have been caused by an outage in Menlo Park, Facebook's headquarters in California.

In a statement on its website, Facebook explains that service has been restored, but will not speculate as to why the service was down. They are denying that they were hacked by Lizard Squad.

Although the site was only unavailable for 60 minutes in various parts of the world, people were freaking out. Many users took to Twitter, creating the trending hashtag #FacebookDown.

Some entrepreneurial people created memes.
