Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said in a speech on Wednesday that "if I could sell myself to benefit my homeland, God knows I would have done it."

Within a few hours, the president was put up for sale on eBay, a website where people can auction almost anything to the highest bidder.

The seller advertised Sisi saying, "For sale on eBay, Field Marshal, Doctor of Philosophy with a military background, decent condition." When asked for more information, the seller added that the product was briefly used by "his previous owners (Gulf royals)."

Many took to Twitter to show what they thought of the advertisement, with most mocking Sisi or joking about the eBay post.

"Al-Sisi for sale: experienced in military revolutions, using force to break up rallies, murdering protesters, breaking the law, building prisons, a comic sometimes and an actor. Hurry, limited quantity:)"

"What will the one who buys al-Sisi do with him??"

"Sisi is for sale, with a complimentary Nokia charger"

"In Sisi's speech, the only honest sentence was "I swear to God if I could be sold I would be", he knows his worth"

"Why do pessimists say that al-Sisi isn't worth anything? He's gotten bids up to $15 thousand, I advise Egyptians to go through with the deal"

eBay soon removed the listing from their website on Wednesday afternoon, after it reached $70 thousand.
