The "Jetman" Yves Rossy shot a stunning video this past week that has now garnered over two million YouTube views since it was first published. In addition to the beautiful shots of the desert and sand dunes surrounding Dubai that almost look like an ocean, there are cool glimpses of the well-planned city as well as dramatic shots of Jetman in action. It is no wonder this video's popularity is skyrocketing.
An ex-fighter pilot, the Jetman soars 1,500 meters above the United Arab Emirates at a speed of nearly 200 kph. He matches an airplane move for move, spiraling and rolling in the sky in tandem with the machine.
His appearance was hinted at on UAE's National Day when Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, posted an Instagram image of Jetman.
The two are remaining cryptic as to what the future will bring for Dubai and Jetman, however on Jetman's website, he says that, "the synergy between Dubai and Jetman is easy to see. Dreaming the impossible, striving for excellence and shaping perceptions make this an incredibly powerful partnership."
Prior to this flight, the Jetman has flown over the Swiss Alps in 2008, crossed the English Channel, traveled above the Grand Canyon in America and Rio Di Janero's Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, in addition to flying over Mount Fuji in Japan. Despite the wide-range of international locations and feats, he says that "the best is yet to come."
