From photos to profanity, cybercrime doesn't pay in the UAE.

Legal experts say that the emoji middle fingers – which will only be available on Windows platforms – could land some users in jail.

“It’s an insult in the UAE and the law can punish you with either jail of up to three years or a fine of up to Dhs500,000," criminal defense lawyer Abdullah Yousef Al Nasir told 7Days in Dubai. Foreigners would "probably be deported."

Flicking the middle finger in the emirates is already a punishable offence, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that doing so digitally is also not allowed.

Nasir also points out that the bad behavior must first be reported, so if you just can't help yourself, just send the bird to family and friends who won't be offended.
