But, the day you're asked by a foreigner or the day you find yourself wandering a foreign country looking for your favorite foods, it hits you. You do not know their English name. No, no, it's okay. I think to a certain extent, we've all suffered just the same. Here's your guide to the English equivalent of these 11 fruits/vegetables:
1. Kharma = Persimmon
Iran is among the top 10 persimmon producing countries!
2. Farfa7een = Purslane
Also known as purslay, this plant can reach up to 40 cm in height!
3. Akedenia = Loquat
These delicious fruits can be fermented into a fruit wine.
4. Ganeric = Greengage
Iran & Turkey are both among the widely grown cultivars of Greengage.
5. 2ashta = Sugar Apple
In Yemen, this fruit is known as Khirmish.
6. Hindebeh = Chicory
In the United States, chicory root has long been used as a substitute for coffee in prisons.
7. 3ennab = Jujube
When these are in season, say hello to binging.
8. 7osrom = Veraison
The official definition of Veraison is "change of color of the grape berries."
9. 2im 2laybeni = Green Chickpea Pods

10. Gargeer = Arugula
It is also known as rucola, roquette, rugula, rucoli, and colewort.
11. Kamikwad/Burtqal Dahabi = Kumquat
