Mohammed Assaf receives #SOS4Gaza note as part of UNRWA campaign

Mohammed Assaf stars in the second video installment of the UNRWA's #SOS4Gaza campaign.

The UNRWA released a follow-up video for it #SOS4Gaza campaign featuring Mohammed Assaf receiving the "message in a bottle" thrown out to sea by Rana in the previous video.

In June, the UNRWA released the first campaign video portraying six children living in Gaza speaking about their various dreams for the future. They then collectively decide to write down their goals and aspirations, place them in a bottle and throw the bottle out to sea with the hope that someone will hear their story.

And at least one person is reading.

In the new video, Assaf reads about Rana's dreams of one day becoming famous like him. He encourages her to follow her dreams and calls on the international community to support all of Gaza's children.

Although the first campaign film maintained a lighthearted tone, the clip is also somber as the destruction from years of conflict and the poor living conditions are emphasized as the setting of the brief story. However, the kids' positive energy and excitement clearly demonstrates an unwavering spirit of hope for a brighter future.

As the UNRWA's regional youth ambassador, Assaf has been involved in leading the #SOS4Gaza campaign, previously sharing the first video on his social media channels.

In the new video, Assaf says, "We all have the ability to help the children of Gaza. Let's help the children of Gaza now, so that their dreams can come true."
