After a distinguished success of their first screening of a feature film with an audio description for the blind and visually impaired, Masreya Media and Zawya are promising yet another stellar event and cinematic experience on July 2nd. Among the attendees will be the prominent and influential actress Nadia Lutfi.
Masreya Media and Zawya joined forces for the first time on June 11 in an attempt to provide an exhilarating cinematic experience for those who are blind or visually impaired. Though it is widely popular and adopted globally, audio description has never been available in Egypt and therefore, those with visual disabilities were never able to properly enjoy properly films, programs, etc.
Through a detailed narration process of every scene, from costumes to facial expressions and everything in between, audio description allows the visually impaired to visualize the scenes as they play out and with the use of modern technology, they can now feel less secluded from society.
Masreya Media and Zawya are promoting this concept by playing films in different venues and neighborhoods in Cairo and they're also hoping to expand this method across the country.
