On Monday, the Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced an Emirati man to three years in jail after he was found guilty of assaulting and raping his Uzbek girlfriend, Khaleej Times reported.
The case dates back to January 21, when the woman filed a complaint against the man at Al Qusais police station, accusing him of sexually assaulting her, and throwing her out of his apartment naked.
During investigations, the female victim explained that on the night of the incident she had gone to visit the man in his flat to discuss her immigration status in the UAE, as he had previously "bailed her out when she was detained in connection with a case at the residency prosecution".
The couple then got into an argument, which ended with the horrific assault.
Details of the disgusting crime
Speaking to investigators, the victim shared chilling details of how things went down on the night she was attacked.
"I went to his place around noon upon his invitation. He was under the influence of alcohol when he dragged me by force inside the bedroom and locked the door. He raped me there for two hours while physically assaulting me," she said.
"Once done, he dragged me by my hair and kicked me out while I was still undressed. He kept saying in Russian that I would not be able to do anything," she added.
According to Khaleej Times, "a hallway surveillance recording showed the complainant being forced out naked of the flat and then walking to the lift".
Soon after he was reported to the police, the man's flat was raided by officers, but he had already fled the scene.
After a week-long search, the accused was found hiding in a room shared by bachelors.
He was then arrested and referred to interrogation where he confessed his crime.
