After 300 people reportedly snapped up $200 tickets on Emirates between Australia and Brazil, the airline has cancelled all bookings blaming the extremely low fares on a system error on its website.
Customers who had booked a flight had received conformation emails and e-tickets. The fares were estimated to be less than a tenth of the normal price.
Some customers were angered by what had happened and called on Emirates to honor the error that had been made using the hashtag #EmiratesFail to deliver their message.
The airline has since apologized in a statement, letting its customers know they hold responsibility for the system error. However, the airline insisted on canceling all bookings that were made at the time, stating that they will be in touch with all affected passengers to assist them in rebooking their flights at the normal rate.
“Emirates apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused its customers. Emirates fares are competitively priced and we remain committed to providing our customers with excellent service and a strong value-for-money proposition," the airline said in a statement, according to Arabian Business .
