Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali Al-Muselhi

Earlier this week, an Egyptian minister sparked outrage on social media, after he fired a sound engineer during a live press conference.

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali Al-Muselhi was angered after he faced what seemed to be a technical problem as he spoke into a microphone.

He then asked: "Who set up this sound system?"

When an unidentified man said that he had set it up, the minister humiliatingly fired him on live television.

"See yourself out of the room... I don't want to see you ever again," Al-Muselhi said.

Backlash on social media

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media and naturally, it angered many.

People were outraged over the way Al-Muselhi dealt with the situation, and many criticized the condescending manner in which he spoke to the sound engineer.

Others said his reaction was disrespectful, unacceptable and uncalled for.

A few people resorted to sarcasm

"This country is so beautiful."

Others were outraged

"To hell with insolence.... I wish we never see this minister again."

Some called Al-Muselhi's words "ridiculous"

Hundreds raised this point

"He could've spoken to him in a more respectful way, and then reprimand him in private after the conference."

Even if he were trying to do the right thing... the way he did it is wrong

"The minister did the right thing... but the way he did it is just wrong."

Others were just not having it

"First, do your job properly, then hold others accountable for their mistakes"

"Dear Minister of Supply: This is what our daily bread looks like, we don't want to see you ever again"

"Dear minister... I don't want to see you again"
