Egyptian belly dancer and actress Alaa Mohammed Ali, who is known by her stage name Shams, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for kidnapping, according to Al Bawaba news.
According to the the Cairo criminal court, the star allegedly kidnapped an orphan child who she wanted to adopt after the orphanage turned her down due to her profession.
The star reportedly met and consequently wanted to adopt a child at an orphanage. After being turned down, Shams asked to spend two days with child at her place of residence and signed multiple documents stating that she would return the child after the visit.
However, when Shams failed to return the child to the orphanage and reportedly refused to do so, the orphanage administrators contacted the Nasr Police station and the star was arrested.
