"A city, iconic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, including the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, holds all the requirements to host the elite group of men and women famous for diving aesthetically from dizzying heights."

The world-class competitors will be diving from Pier 7, Dubai Marina's signature dining building which encompasses seven different restaurants on each of its floors.

"The circular-designed building will not only provide stunning views of the city skyline and the Arabian Gulf via wraparound views from each of its seven floors, it will serve as the season's ultimate take-off spot for cliff diving's best."

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, which was founded in 2009 by Red Bull, is an annual cliff diving competition that takes the form of a series of events which take place in a number of spots around the world.

The gravity-defying sport's athletes jump with no protection from heights ranging between 26-28 meters, which is almost three times the Olympic height.

This year the competition will be hosted by nine countries across the globe, of which the UAE and Japan are the two new locations. Other countries include the United States, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Portugal, France and Italy.

Starting in June when the series kicks off in Texas, the competitors will be jumping from a height of 27 meters and hitting the water at speeds of 85 kilometers per hour just three seconds later.
