Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 15 minutes? This video shows how it could happen soon

Hyperloop One is becoming a reality in the UAE.

A video revealing a Hyperloop transportation system that would shuttle passengers between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 15 minutes was released this week.

Hyperloop technology is the brainchild of billionaire business magnate and investor Elon Musk of Tesla and Space X.

Essentially, the Hyperloop train will shoot capsules at high speeds through a nearly complete vacuum inside a large-scale tube. When implemented, the technology could drastically decrease required transport time, allowing cities to become more like metro stops than distant destinations.

Currently, several different companies are vying to develop the technology in different parts of the world. The technology is open-sourced–Musk published it in a 57-page alpha white paper on in 2014.

In August, it was revealed that the UAE could very possibly be the first place in the world where the Hyperloop is built on a large scale and put to commercial use.

“We are in a new time now where you can develop a new transportation system in very few years and change the world,” Jacob Lange, director of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) Ideas, a Danish firm working on implementing Hyperloop One in the United Arab Emirates, said in the video.

“We’re not waiting for new technology like carbon nanofiber or anything in order to do this. We have everything we need to do it and it’s a matter of doing it in the best possible way.”

In the video, BIG Ideas shares digital animations, renderings and maps of how Hyperloop One will function in the UAE.

“This is about creating a love for the new possibilities out there. Suddenly you can live in a forest, take the Hyperloop into work everyday and its only going to take 10 minutes,” Lange said.

“You spread out the possibilities for everybody to live where they want: by the sea, by the water, in the forest, wherever.”

The full designs and plans for the Hyperloop One are slated to be revealed on Nov. 7.

Janet Jackson’s ‘full Islamic dress’ was actually a Y-3 Poncho

Jackson and her Qatari husband were spotted walking in London.

Last week, media reported that Janet Jackson adopted “full Islamic dress” in her first appearance after announcing her pregnancy. The 50-year-old is pregnant with her first child.

American superstar and her husband Qatari billionaire businessman Wissam Al Mana were spotted walking together in London over the weekend. The media has been abuzz about Jackson’s marriage to a Muslim, and have speculated that she has since converted to Islam.

Numerous reports have come out about Jackson’s getting “all covered up” after her marriage to Al Mana in 2012.

It turns out that Jackson was wearing a black Y-3 Poncho Sweater, which retails for 845 British pounds or $1,028. The poncho is listed under the men’s section.

Some on social media were quick to critique the hasty reporting.

The Daily Mirror also wrote: “Janet is said to have taken a while to adjust to life in Qatar, due to the restrictions placed on women – and the fact she’s had to give up designer clothes.”

Al Mana Group owns the rights to distribute fashion brands such as Hermes, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney, so would be extremely ironic if Jackson were required to relinquish “designer clothes.”

Muslim Girl points out: “Qatar doesn’t require ‘Islamic dress’ be worn or have ‘restrictions on women’ as the article says. Qatari culture may express a preference for modest attire, but visitors are not fined or legally penalized for what they wear.”
