The government of Dubai always endeavors to be cutting edge, especially through its Smart Government department. On Monday, the Dubai SG launched mJobs, a mobile app for jobseekers looking for a position in any government department.

“We are trying to get all government departments on board, allowing people access to all job vacancies in the Government of Dubai on a single window. This is designed to make the government more accessible to people and make them happy,” Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG director-general, told Gulf News .

Already, 18 government departments have begun using the app, posting some 200 jobs. In the next phase of the app, another 40 departments will begin posting their vacancies via the app.

The app's interface can be used in either Arabic or English and can be synched with DSGs eJobs online portal. Functioning similar to most job-search websites, the app allows users to narrow their search by government departments, save available positions for later access, and contains a section for users to create a personal profile that can be easily updated.

“The launch of this smart app is in line with the theme of connected smart services as per our DSG Strategy 2014-2017, which calls for government services to be provided through smart devices. It is also in response to our customers’ feedback and in fulfillment of the leadership's vision to contribute to the satisfaction and happiness of all those living in our emirate by bringing together as many government entities as possible,” Humaidan said, according to Emirates 24/7 .

Humaidan also explained that the mJobs app is a part of Dubai's overall initiative to make it more competitive internationally and to position it as the smartest government both regionally and globally.

Currently the app is available only through the Apple Store, with other platforms to be available soon. It is open to all citizens and residents of the UAE.
