Artists in the United Arab Emirates and internationally, this is for you.
Art Dubai has launched the application phase of the annual artist-in-residence program in partnership with Delfina, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Tashkeel. This year the program will accept four UAE-based artists – Emiratis or expats – and two international artists. For the second year, the program is also seeking an Emirati assistant curator.
Artists accepted to the program will spend January until March of 2016 working on a site-specific project alongside the Art Dubai projects curator and the Emirati assistant curator who will also be selected for the residency.
“The annual Artist-in-Residence programme has set new benchmarks in driving intercultural artistic exchange, one of the priorities of Dubai Culture,” manager of Visual Arts at the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority Khalil Abdulwahid said, according to a press release.
"We are taking [the program] to the next level through a structured and updated programme that enables the participants to experience Dubai’s artistic diversity fully, interact with the artist community, access materials effortlessly and derive inspiration from the city’s cultural identity."
Interested artists must submit their completed applications by August 21 and the accepted applicant's works will go on display during Art Dubai from March 16 to 19, 2016.
